WhatsApp joins the UPI-family
The e-wallet WhatsApp Pay works similarly to Google Pay and PhonePe. It has recently started popping up as an available payment method at WhatsApp Pay casinos all over India.

Whatsapp Pay’s history in India
WhatsApp Pay entered the Indian market already in 2018 and has been rolled out slowly ever since.
In November 2020, NPCI finally gave thumbs up for the method to be integrated into the UPI-machinery and allowed for a roll out to 20 of the 400 million WhatsApp users in India, to begin with.

Pending concerns with WhatsApp Pay Casinos
When WhatsApp Pay first launched in India, the Indian Government expressed concern over data sharing risk between the payment solution and Facebook.
Facebook confirmed that no data-sharing would occur. They further clarified this after a recent WhatsApp Privacy Policy update.
The question remains if Facebook and WhatsApp will continue their communication transparency. They need to win back the users they lost due to previous data conundrums.
The Supreme Court issued a notice to the company on the 15th of February 2021 regarding the update.
“It’s understandable that the Centre is demanding transparency when it comes to WhatsApp, as Facebook has been careless with data in the past.
Meanwhile, we’ve used Google Pay and Apple Pay for years without any issues. These are also payment options connected directly to companies handling large amounts of personal data.
Seeing as all eyes in India are on Facebook right now, we don’t think that using WhatsApp Pay for online casino transactions will be an issue once it’s available.”
